So, one of the first things I did when I started this blog is to try to find a blog editor that would allow me to write my blog entries without being “on the web” While both blogger (my previous platform) and WordPress (my current platform) have a pretty respectable WYSIWYG editor available. I wanted something with a little more power.
So, I went off to Google and did my normal search routine and found…
…
…
Well, I didn’t find much actually. What I found was that there really isn’t a lot out there. There were a few that looked kind of promising but when I searched for reviews of those products I found that people were having trouble with them.
I’d almost given up when I practically tripped over Windows Live Writer. Sorry Mac gang. Microsoft is still paying my bills so for the time being, I’m still using Windows (Vista specifically if anyone cares.)
What I like about Windows Live Writer is that the screen I’m typing on looks EXACTLY like the screen you’ll be viewing when this is posted. There are also quite few plug-ins available that allow me to do cool things like paste code from my development environment into my post and the code will display in the post just like it looks in my development editor. I have a post over in my geek blog you can look at if you want to see what I mean. Other plug-ins allow me to insert tags, insert pictures, insert video, insert a map, and more.
The current version is Beta 3 and is free. I like free.
