Back in high school, it was to see if there might be a letter from a friend from summer camp. Why do I get excited now? Maybe we still see it as a sign that we're loved, maybe more than email. It takes extra effort to slap on a stamp and send something. It is extra special to receive something. If we want to be receivers, I suppose we ought to be senders, too. Lately, I've been excited to get creative photo postcards from your wife! There's something even more exciting about going out to your mailbox on an ordinary day and getting something so out of the ordinary. It's a tangible expression of care and I like that.
