So, as I move through my office cleaning a section at a time, I realized that I have to organize my filing cabinet next. This is because "away" for much of the stuff in my shelves is in my filing cabinet… only my filing cabinets are not very well organized.
As I started on this project, I found that much of the stuff I have in my files is very old, and should have been tossed out long ago. In fact, I’ve gained quite a it of space back already by simply going through the files and tossing stuff that I either have a more recent copy of, or things I’ll never look at again if I live to be 100.
Which leads me to think this thought. "If the stuff I can see is any indication of the stuff that I can’t see, than this ‘collection phase’ could take quite a long time."
Despite what David Allen says about collecting everything and then putting it all away, personally I think it is a good thing that I can’t see it all or I probably wouldn’t do any of it.
BTW, I’m also realizing that I am going to need desk drawers. Right now I have things on my shelves that most people would put in a desk drawer. Things like checks, printer ink, etc. It’s kind of like having your underwear out on a shelve instead of put away in a dresser.
So, if anyone knows where I can get under the desk drawers (my desk is two solid wood doors on legs) the quality of the $29.00 two drawer filing cabinets you can occasionally get from Staples, (metal, but no rollers) or better for less than $100.00, please leave me a comment letting me know where I can get them. I know staples has plastic ones for $29.00. I’m looking for metal or wood.
