Thought Control

Interesting discussion this weekend concerning the new Tintin book that ISN’T being released because the Tintin series is not politically correct.  I had a conversation with Aimee earlier this month about the whole idea of limiting what one can say, and here is a perfect example.

By limiting what we say or what we read, we are limiting what we think.  The media knows this and uses it to our harm by only showing us what they think we should see.  To put it bluntly, the media participates in gossip and slander on a regular basis.  Gossip and slander sell.  Unfortunately, the truth doesn’t.

While I don’t agree with how the Tintin series portrays the races, it is unfortunate that this book has been pulled from the market simply because it stayed true to the original series’ portrayal of the races.  This is our historical past.  An ugly past, yes.  But our past.  And a past we need to be reminded of, re-introduced to, and discussed openly.

Here’s the dirty little secret behind censorship.  By making everything politically correct.  By eliminating books that portray what we really think, or what we really thought.  We make ourselves look better than we really are.  We deny that we are sinners and thereby deny that we need God.

But, there is something you can do.  Instead of reading a book that came out this year.  Read a book from the past.  You might find some thoughts you aren’t thinking and should among the dust and ugliness of those bygone years.
